The basics: 7 questions

The basics

What is a fund token?

A fund token is a token with its own onchain treasury. Mining payments can finance a buying budget, and auctions exchange that budget for the assets chosen through allocation. Holding the token lets you withdraw a proportional share of treasury holdings. It is not a brokerage account or direct ownership of company shares.

Do I need a wallet to look around?

No. You can explore funds, holdings, prices and activity without connecting a wallet. To trade, take over a fund’s Mine, allocate or withdraw, you need a compatible wallet on the app’s configured network, the tokens required for the action, and the network’s native token for gas.

What does “backing per token” mean?

It is the estimated value of the treasury’s holdings divided by effective fund-token supply. That supply includes mining rewards already earned but not yet minted. Money waiting in buying budgets is not yet a treasury holding. Missing asset prices make the estimate incomplete; they do not mean those assets are worth zero.

Can the creator take the treasury?

The treasury has no owner-controlled function for taking out its assets. The creator can still add or stop buying strategies, change permitted fees and allocation settings, and redirect future mining revenue. Those controls do not let them sweep existing treasury holdings, but they can affect what the fund buys next.

What happens when I withdraw?

Your fund tokens are burned and you receive a proportional share of the included treasury holdings. You receive tokens, not a promised cash amount or your original purchase price. Withdrawing does not need the creator’s approval. Any asset omitted from a withdrawal is permanently forfeited for the tokens burned.

Is backing a price floor?

No. The fund token can trade above or below its estimated backing. Asset prices, liquidity, gas and token behavior affect what you can actually receive or sell. Neither the treasury nor the ability to withdraw guarantees a price, a return or recovery of what you paid.

Do I need to write smart contracts to launch a fund?

No. The launch flow connects the contracts for your fund. You choose its name, ticker, metadata, allocation mode and permitted fees, then review the seed deposit and wallet transactions. The token’s name and ticker cannot be changed after launch. New funds start with strategies for their own token and liquidity-pool token; other assets can be added later.
